Temporary car insurance provides short-term coverage for either your own or someone else’s vehicle that you are borrowing, ranging from an hour up to a month. It offers flexibility for specific situations, such as short trips or borrowing a car, allowing you to customise your comphrehensive coverage based on your temporary needs.

Simply fill in your details and the details of the vehicle you are insuring, and let us know how long you need the insurance cover to last. One Day Insurance will present you with you a quote and once you have paid online, we will email you in minutes with all the necessary documentation to show you are correctly insured on the vehicle. The insurance policy will appear on the Motor Insurance Database (MID) within 24 hours, but to be sure, we recommend you keep proof of your policy with you whilst driving, whether it’s electronic or paper. To find out more about what the MID is and how it impacts your temporary car insurance policy, read our blog covering all things MID. Your insurance policy will protect you much as a regular annual policy would, with comprehensive cover as standard, however, the cover will expire after the selected time period is up.

Our policies include comprehensive coverage as standard, ensuring protection not only for damage to other vehicles but also for the car you are driving. This encompasses accidents, theft, fire, vandalism, and natural disasters, providing a broader financial safeguard for the policyholder compared to third-party or third-party, fire and theft policies.

You can get temporary car insurance from as short as one hour, up to one month. Read more about our hourly, daily, weekend, weekly and monthly short-term car insurance policies

Temporary car insurance offers flexibility and the freedom to choose the policy duration you require. Enjoy cost savings by paying only for the coverage you need, and with comprehensive protection as a standard, it ensures optimal security without affecting the car owner’s no-claims discount. With our 3 simple steps, approval takes just minutes.

The primary difference between annual and temporary car insurance is in the name – annual car insurance is a policy that covers you over the course of a year, whilst temporary car insurance provides cover during a specific time period, ranging from an hour to a month. The key benefit of this temporary coverage is its flexibility and freedom, ideal for borrowing a friend or family member’s car, test drives, road trips, or any situation requiring temporary vehicle protection without the obligations of a long-term commitment. There are a host of other differences and benefits for annual vs temporary car insurace which you can read about in our blog comparing the two types of car insurance policies.
